Getting started

What is a bay rental?
You rent a professional bay — with a lift, tools, and space — and do the work on your own car yourself. No shop labor rates, no waiting for a mechanic. Coopers Garage is in Toledo, Ohio at 320 W Alexis Rd, Toledo, OH 43612.
Do I need to bring my own tools?
No. A full Craftsman 298-piece mechanics set, air impact and ratchet, floor jack and stands, strut compressor, shop press, drain equipment, and work lights are included with every bay — see the full tool list. You're always welcome to bring your own tools too.
Do I need experience?
You should be comfortable doing the job you're booking for. Coopers staff are around for advice and a quick safety walkthrough on your first visit, but they aren't certified mechanics and they don't do the work for you.
What kinds of vehicles can I work on?
Anything on two to four wheels that fits — cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles are all welcome. Each bay is 24 ft long with a 10 ft wide door and 11 ft of ceiling. The 2-post lift is rated to 10,000 lb and the QuickJack to 5,000 lb. If you're close on size (a dually, a lifted rig, a long-bed crew cab), measure first or call and we'll tell you straight.
Can I bring a car that doesn't run?
Yes, with a few conditions:
  • Text or call ahead so we know it's coming.
  • It needs to roll (wheels turn, tires hold air) so we can get it in and onto the lift.
  • It can't be leaking fuel.
  • You're responsible for getting it to the bay, so tow it in.
  • The car has to go in front end first. Set up the tow accordingly, or it will need to be pushed around to get in the bay properly.

It doesn't have to be fixed by closing. Book the next day to finish the job and there's no charge for the overnight stay. Or we'll roll it out to our outdoor storage until you're ready to work on it again. Outdoor storage is $20 a day, and other fees may apply.

Time to get the car into the bay counts toward your rental.

Can I bring a car I'm thinking of buying to inspect it?
Yes. Rent the 2-Post Lift for an hour ($45 / hour), and a staff member will get the car raised so you can check the frame, underbody, suspension, brakes, and leaks properly — far better than a look in a parking lot. The same goes for a car you're selling and want to check over first. See pricing.
Can I detail my car here?
Yes. Book the Clear Floor ($20 / hour) — it's the cheapest bay and has open floor space to work all the way around the car. A full detail usually takes 3–4 hours.
Which bay should I pick?
2-Post Lift ($45 / hour) — Full 2-post lift bay for heavier repair and inspection work. Best for exhaust, transmission, and longer jobs.
Clear Floor ($20 / hour) — Open clear-floor workspace for jobs that do not need a lift. Comes with a 3-ton jack and stands. Cheapest option — perfect for detailing, car audio installs, or an oil change.
QuickJack ($25 / hour) — Portable QuickJack lift setup for fast under-car access. Good for brakes, suspension, and quick under-car work.

Pricing & payment

How much does it cost?
Hourly rates are $20 / hour (Clear Floor), $45 / hour (2-Post Lift), and $25 / hour (QuickJack). Day and 6-day weekly rates are on the pricing page. There's a 1-hour minimum; after that, time is billed by the hour.
What is the deposit?
Booking online takes a card deposit: just $10 for any hourly or full-day booking, or $50 for a 6-day week. It isn't an extra fee — it comes off your bill when you settle up. Cancel 24+ hours before your start time and it's refunded automatically; inside 24 hours it's kept.
When do I pay the rest?
When you're finished, at the counter. The deposit is subtracted from the total.
What payment methods do you take?
The deposit is paid online by card. For the balance at the counter: cash and Zelle are the cheapest — no fee. Cards are welcome too, but the card machine adds a 3% processing fee.
Do you offer weekly rates?
Yes — a 6-day week is six open days in a row (Tuesdays skipped), full hours each day, at a flat rate per bay. The weekly price covers our open hours, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. If you need to start earlier or stay later, staffed extended hours are $30 an hour (2-hour minimum, 48 hours' notice), arranged by text. Tuesdays are normally closed; if you need one for a week booking, text us and we'll arrange it. Pick "Full week" on the booking page, choose a bay and start day, and all six days are reserved at once. The deposit is $50, credited to your bill like any other.
Do you have a referral program?
Yes. After you book, you get a code like COOPERS-XXXX. A friend who enters it on their first booking gets $10 off at the counter, and once their visit is done you get $10 in shop credit — sent to you as a gift-card code. Their booking has to be 2 hours or more. No limit on how many friends.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes — $20 to $500, emailed to the recipient right away or on a date you pick, with a printable copy for you. Buy 5 hours, get the 6th free: any card of $100 or more is loaded with 20% extra. They're redeemed at the counter toward any bay, all at once or an hour at a time, and never expire. Buy a gift card.

Booking

How do I book?
Online, in about two minutes: pick a bay and time, enter your details, pay the deposit, and you'll get a confirmation email with a calendar link and directions. For a 6-day week, switch to "Full week" at the top of the calendar.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as you can — weekends fill first. You can book up to 60 days out. Same-day slots are often available; check the live calendar.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes. Every confirmation email has a cancel link. Cancel 24+ hours ahead for a full deposit refund. To reschedule, cancel and rebook — or call (419) 704-2146 and we'll move it.
What are your hours?
Open Wednesday through Monday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Closed Tuesdays. All bookings must end by 6:00 PM, so the latest you can start a 1-hour booking is 5:00 PM. Need earlier or later? Staff can stay for extended hours at $30 an hour (2-hour minimum).
What if my job runs long?
You can always extend by another hour, as long as the bay isn't already booked after you — just tell the counter. If someone else has the next slot, we'll help you wrap up safely and you can rebook. Need to go past closing (6:00 PM) to finish up? If staff can stay, extended hours are $30 an hour with a 2-hour minimum. Just ask the counter that day.
Can I leave my car overnight?
Yes. If you book the next day to finish the job, there's no charge for the overnight stay. If you won't be back right away, we'll keep your car in our outdoor storage for $20 a day until you're ready to work on it again, and you settle it with your bill. Other fees may apply. For longer projects the 6-day weekly rate keeps the bay yours the whole time.

At the shop

What do I need to bring?
A valid ID (the renter must be 18+), your parts, and closed-toe shoes. Sign the liability waiver online before you arrive and you'll walk straight to your bay.
What's the waiver?
A standard liability release every customer signs once before working in a bay. It's on the policies page and in your confirmation email — takes about two minutes on your phone.
Can I bring a friend to help?
Yes — up to 3 people per bay. Children must be with a parent or guardian.
Who operates the lift?
Staff only — for everyone's safety, customers don't run the lifts. When you're ready, a staff member will get your vehicle positioned, raised, and set on the lift, and bring it back down when you're done. You do everything else.
What if I get stuck on a step?
Ask. Coopers staff are usually nearby and happy to point you in the right direction. We don't do the repair for you, but we'll help you think it through.
What about used oil and fluids?
Used oil goes in the labeled drum — disposal is free. Coolant has to be recycled separately, so that's $5. Never pour anything down the drain. Bring your own containers if you'd rather take fluids with you.
Do I have to clean up?
Sweep the bay, return tools where you found them, and take your trash. Leaving a major mess can carry a $100 cleanup charge.
What if I break a tool?
If a tool breaks through normal use, just tell us — that's on us. Tools broken through misuse, or lost or missing tools, are charged at their actual replacement cost.

Rules

Any hard rules?
Closed-toe shoes at all times. Eye protection when grinding, cutting, or under a vehicle. No smoking, vaping, or open flames. No alcohol or marijuana on the property.
What happens if I no-show?
Your deposit is kept, and after 3 no-shows in 90 days online booking may be turned off for you. If you're running late, call (419) 704-2146 — if we haven't heard from you 30 minutes after your start time, the bay may be released.
